At Young’s Mechanical Solutions, we’re proud to mark the successful completion of an important public safety project that raises the bar for modern fire station design in our region. Our team recently wrapped up full HVAC installation for the City of Waynesboro Fire Station No. 2, working in partnership with Lantz Construction Company.

From start to finish, this project required close coordination and thoughtful execution. In the field, Johnny Moran, Madison Chandler, Jake Young and both HVAC and Plumbing crews worked side by side to ensure mechanical systems were installed precisely as designed, seamlessly integrated, and ready to perform reliably from day one.

A Fire Station Built for Performance

What truly sets this facility apart is its advanced radiant floor heating system—installed not only throughout the interior spaces, but also beneath the exterior apparatus bay apron. The inclusion of a snow-melt system ensures safer conditions and faster response times during winter weather, helping firefighters stay mission-ready year-round.

The radiant system is powered by two Air-to-Water Heat Pumps, an energy-efficient technology more common in colder regions and still relatively uncommon locally. By incorporating this approach, Fire Station No. 2 represents a forward-looking investment in efficiency, sustainability, and long-term operating performance—values we’re proud to help bring to the Shenandoah Valley.

Complete HVAC Scope

In addition to radiant heating, the completed HVAC system includes:

  • (8) Split System Heat Pumps

  • (1) Split System A/C Unit

  • (2) Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS Units)

Together, these systems provide balanced comfort, dependable operation, and energy-conscious performance throughout every area of the station.
