At Young’s Mechanical Solutions, we’re proud to be part of a forward-thinking project that’s setting a new standard for public safety infrastructure in our region. Currently, our team is hard at work on the City of Waynesboro’s New Fire Station No. 2, partnering with Lantz Construction Company to provide full HVAC installation for the facility.
In the field, Johnny Moran, Madison Chandler, and Jake Young have been collaborating closely to coordinate the placement of key mechanical systems, ensuring seamless integration and top-tier performance once the station goes live.
A Project That Stands Out
What makes this fire station unique is its innovative use of radiant floor heating — not just inside the building, but also beneath the exterior apparatus bay apron, which will include a snow-melt system. This feature will keep response times quick and safety at the forefront, no matter the weather conditions.
The radiant heat is served by two Air-to-Water Heat Pumps, a technology more commonly found in colder climates but still relatively rare in our area. By incorporating this solution, the new fire station is stepping into the future of energy-efficient heating—something we’re excited to help implement here in the Shenandoah Valley.
In addition to the radiant heating, the HVAC system includes:
(8) Split System Heat Pumps
(1) Split System A/C Unit
(2) Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS Units)
This layered and efficient HVAC design ensures comfort, reliability, and energy-conscious performance for every part of the station.
Proud to Serve Our Community
Projects like this reflect what Young’s Mechanical is all about—delivering creative, cost-effective mechanical solutions while supporting the communities we serve. It’s an honor to help build systems that will keep our local firefighters safe, comfortable, and ready to respond.
